The City of Jacksonville, the largest city by area in the contiguous United States, is a vibrant and diverse community located in Northeast Florida. Known for its rich history, expansive riverfront, and stunning beaches, Jacksonville is a thriving hub of culture, business, and outdoor recreation. The city is committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through innovative infrastructure projects, robust public services, and a strong focus on sustainability. As a rapidly growing metropolitan area, Jacksonville is dedicated to fostering economic development while preserving its unique natural landscapes. With initiatives like the Vision Zero Action Plan and numerous community engagement programs, the city strives to create a safer, more connected, and inclusive environment for all its citizens.
Acuity Design Group (ADG) served as a key marketing consultant for Venture Out JAX 2025, with a primary focus on identifying transportation infrastructure and safety issues throughout Jacksonville and proposing effective strategies to enhance the city’s transportation network. Our responsibilities encompassed conducting extensive market research to analyze current transportation challenges, gathering data on traffic patterns, road conditions, and safety concerns. This data was then utilized to create comprehensive reports and presentations that outlined potential improvements and their expected impacts.
We collaborated closely with stakeholders, including city officials, transportation authorities, and community organizations, to gather input and ensure our proposals were aligned with the city’s strategic goals. Our team facilitated workshops and meetings to actively engage stakeholders, present our findings, and solicit feedback on the proposed transportation initiatives. Our approach was grounded in objective analysis, including cost-benefit assessments, feasibility studies, and the identification of potential funding sources for the recommended projects.
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is an independent public authority responsible for providing transportation services in Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. JTA aims to enhance the safety, accessibility, and efficiency of the region's transportation system through various initiatives, including road safety improvements, public transit services, and infrastructure upgrades. The authority actively engages with the community to identify safety hot spots and implement strategic enhancements, ensuring that residents have a voice in shaping transportation solutions. JTA is dedicated to creating a sustainable and safe transportation environment for all users, making significant investments in transit infrastructure and promoting programs.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $280,000 to support Jacksonville’s "Vision Zero Action Plan," an initiative aimed at eliminating bicycle and pedestrian fatalities by 2030. This grant is part of the Safe Streets and Roads for All program, which distributed $800 million to 510 projects nationwide, reflecting the federal commitment to enhancing roadway safety. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) has also introduced the Creating Safe Spaces Action Plan (CSSAP), which takes a community-centric approach to improving road safety by involving residents in addressing current deficiencies. JTA, serving Jacksonville and Northeast Florida, focuses on identifying safety hot spots, implementing infrastructure improvements, and investing in safer transit options. Acuity Design Group (ADG) will provide essential marketing and communications consulting to ensure community awareness and engagement with the Vision Zero Action Plan. By leveraging their expertise in strategic communication and social media, ADG aims to raise awareness of the plan's goals and safety measures while monitoring outreach effectiveness to foster community ownership and support. These collective efforts are set to significantly enhance road safety in Jacksonville and serve as a model for other communities across the country.
Acuity Design Group (ADG) was entrusted with managing outreach and communications for JTAMobilityWorks, a program aimed at improving Jacksonville’s infrastructure through projects funded by the Local Option Gas Tax. Covering 13 roadway projects across 14 mobility corridors, ADG facilitated charrettes to gather community input on transit, pedestrian, and bicycling improvements. Informational materials and digital platforms were used to educate the public and ensure broad participation. Regular updates on construction progress and disruptions were provided, while feedback mechanisms allowed for community input. Acting as the liaison between JTA, construction teams, and residents, ADG organized meetings with stakeholders and implemented community-driven projects to meet neighborhood needs, fostering transparency and trust throughout the process.
Acuity Design Group (ADG) played a vital role in community engagement for the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) plan along the First Coast Commuter Rail Corridor (FCCR). ADG organized working group meetings, community workshops, and digital charrettes to gather input from diverse community groups, ensuring broad representation and actively engaging underserved populations. Using digital outreach tools and platforms like PublicInput.com, ADG expanded participation beyond in-person events, creating an interactive website and maintaining a strong social media presence. A strategic communication plan was implemented to raise awareness about the TOD project’s benefits, emphasizing its role in reducing traffic and enhancing quality of life. Through these efforts, ADG built strong community support and ensured the TOD plan reflected public priorities and needs.
Acuity Design Group’s marketing and communications consulting for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) focuses on improving public transit amenities across Northwest Jacksonville through a phased bus stop upgrade project. Enhancements include upgraded shelters, lighting, bike racks, real-time messaging systems, and neighborhood-themed art installations along Soutel Drive and the region. By involving local small businesses and certified Local Small Business Enterprise (LSBE) Elton Alan, the project is expected to generate $23.6 million in local economic benefits. As part of the larger MobilityWorks 2.0 program, funded by the Local Option Gas Tax II (LOGTII), these upgrades aim to improve safety, convenience, and community identity while fostering economic growth and public engagement through transparent communications and project updates.
