Job Title: Community Engagement and Public Involvement Specialist

Employment Type: Full time, W2
Location: Charlotte Metro Area (hybrid and field based; local travel required)

Salary Range: $62-75K


Role Summary
ADG is seeking a Community Engagement and Public Involvement Specialist to support public involvement delivery across the Charlotte Metro Area. This position is best suited for someone who can confidently execute outreach, manage event logistics, communicate effectively with community and agency partners, and produce accurate documentation that meets public sector expectations.


Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute public involvement activities including pop up events, public meetings, workshops, and stakeholder sessions.
  • Represent ADG at city, county, and agency meetings with strong preparation, professionalism, and follow up.
  • Coordinate engagement logistics including venues, permits, materials, vendors, sign in processes, and day of execution.
  • Develop outreach communications and materials such as flyers, email notices, social media content, and presentations in alignment with ADG branding.
  •  Maintain stakeholder lists and coordinate targeted outreach with community organizations, businesses, advocacy groups, and residents.
  • Capture public input and maintain documentation including meeting notes, comment logs, and engagement summaries.
  •  Provide light business development support through relationship building and proposal inputs as requested.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in public involvement, community engagement, stakeholder engagement, or outreach.
  • Experience supporting transportation, planning, engineering, or public sector projects.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear summaries, logs, and reports.
    Comfort facilitating conversations in public settings and supporting meeting presentations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with high attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally across the Charlotte Metro Area.
  • Availability for evening and occasional weekend meetings as required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DOT, transit agencies, municipalities, counties, MPOs, or similar public agencies.
  • Familiarity with equity centered engagement practices, ADA considerations, and language access planning
  • Adobe Creative suite experience and comfort supporting social media or basic digital communications.
    Experience supporting proposal narratives or qualifications packages.


Work Style and Schedule
Hybrid schedule with frequent field work. Evening meetings and occasional weekend events are expected.
